In August, I traveled to Arizona, Mexico, and Cuba. I will be posting my photos from Cuba to Instagram over the next couple of weeks, since I didn’t have internet access while I was there. I will of course have full posts about my travels soon. Here are my favorite photos I took in August, along with a brief story about them. This photo was taken on San Francisco’s Muni system. One of the (few) nice things about San Francisco’s public transportation is that the F streetcar line uses restored streetcars from around the world. This particular one is from Milan, Italy, and it still has signs in Italian.

One afternoon, instead of working, I got to go to a San Francisco Giants game at AT&T Park.

The flight path to Phoenix Sky Harbor airport goes right after my former hometown of Tempe, Arizona. Here you can see the campus of Arizona State University, my alma mater, with Sun Devil Stadium at the bottom.

On my way to Cuba, I had one day to spend in Mexico near Cancun. I opted to visit Tulum. I had these excellent cheap tacos for dinner that night.

In the morning, I explored the Mayan ruins of Tulum. The view over the sea from the ruins on the cliffs is magnificent.

There were iguanas all over the ruins in Tulum. I nearly stepped on a couple because they blend in so well.

After Cuba, I returned via Mexico again for one day. This time, I went to Chichen Itza. The Mayan ruins there are breathtaking.

While the size of the Chichen Itza ruins are impressive given the technology available, a closer look reveals some interesting details carved into the stone, such as on this snake at the Great Ballcourt.

Back in Arizona, I went for brunch with a friend on my last day of the trip. We went to a great spot in Phoenix called Welcome Chicken + Donuts and had, you guessed it, chicken and donuts.
