The London Borough of Camden stretches from Covent Garden in central London all the way to Hampstead in North London. The borough covers a wide swath of the city, including Camden Town, the social hub long considered one of the coolest neighborhoods in London. The Craft Beer Co. Covent Garden

If you’re anywhere in Central London, you’re probably near a location of The Craft Beer Co. One of the locations of this small English chain is just north of Covent Garden near Bloomsbury.

Each Craft Beer Co. location has between 18 & 30 taps, plus a large selection of cask ales. The Covent Garden location has the chain’s largest selection. While the pub initially seems small, there is also a basement space. There are also hundreds of bottles & cans available, many of them from smaller breweries around the United Kingdom & Europe.

Craft Beer Co. also has a small range of pub snacks such as pies, scotch eggs, & chips.

The Euston Tap

The Euston Tap is one of the stalwarts of the London craft beer scene. It has been a sentry outside Euston train station since 2010.

The beer bar is located in two lodge buildings, relics of the previous incarnation of Euston. Downstairs, you’ll find a large, frequently rotating selection of craft beer & cask ales (19 kegs & 8 casks in the West Lodge, along with fridges with bottles & cans), along with limited seating. Head up the metal spiral staircases for more seating & the toilets.

In 2021, Euston Tap expanded its outdoor beer garden to give everyone more space.

Across the road, the East Lodge (formerly Cider Tap) has a different selection of beer & a similar layout.

The Resting Hare

The Resting Hare is owned by the same pub group that also operates Euston Tap, Hackney Tap, Pelt Trader, & more.

It has a bit more of a restaurant atmosphere than the other Bloomsbury Leisure Group locations (pizza is served). The Resting Hare has 10 rotating craft beer taps plus 3 casks.

The Black Heart

The Black Heart is a Camden Town music venue & bar that boasts “Beer, booze, & bands in no particular order.”

Fans of rock, metal, & punk will love The Black Heart. Downstairs there’s a bar with an excellent craft beer selection, while gigs take place upstairs.

Southampton Arms

The Southampton Arms is a traditional pub in Kentish Town that specializes in 3 things: Ale, cider, & meat.

The intimate pub with wood floors & a fireplace has 18 handpulls of cask ales & ciders, as well as 2 keg taps, all from small independent UK breweries. For food, there’s everything from pork scratchings to roasts, with pies & rolls in between.

There’s also a back garden & a record player spinning vinyl.

The Magdala

The Magdala (website) is a beer & real ale pub located near Hampstead Heath.

It has a selection of around 20 kegged beers & 7 real ale casks, plus a food menu. The pub is a bright space with wood floors, as any good pub should have.

Wolfpack West Hampstead

Wolfpack is a brewery that specializes in lager. They operate 3 London taprooms, including one in West Hampstead. In addition to their own beer, the bar has 15 rotating taps. There is also a full bar, as well as burgers & wings.

The Horseshoe – Camden

The Horseshoe is the birthplace of Camden Town Brewery (see more below). Although the brewery has long outgrown its original brewpub, the Hampstead craft beer bar is still part of the family. The Horseshoe taproom serves the full Camden Town lineup, along with some guest cans, bottles, & taps, in addition to food.

Babel Beerhouse (formerly Little Creatures Brewing)

The beer bar was formerly the home of the Australian craft brewery Little Creatures. They have a selection of beers from UK breweries Fourpure & Magic Rock. There is a food menu with small plates, burgers, & pizzas.

The Cheese Bar

There’s no better combination than beer & cheese. Camden Market’s The Cheese Bar has a spectacular menu that shares the best of British cheese. The Best Breweries in Camden – Bloomsbury – Kentish Town – Hampstead – North London

Camden Beer Hall

Underneath the railway at Kentish Town West, you’ll find Camden Town Brewery’s Camden Beer Hall. The spacious site takes up several railway arches, including a brewery & lots of space for drinking. There’s also a beer garden out front. The brewery offers tours, as well as a beer school. There is also a food menu, focused on Italian & Bavarian dishes.

The beer hall has up to 24 taps, including many beers you won’t find elsewhere. Camden Town’s core beers can be found all over London, particularly North London. They’re also the official craft beer of Arsenal.

The space was previously Camden Town’s main brewery, but most production has now moved to Enfield as they expand following their purchase by AB InBev.

Not far from Camden Beer Hall is the off-licence Drinkers Paradise.
