Mérida, Mexico, is rapidly growing in both size and reputation. It’s a solid craft beer city for its size. I enjoyed my time in the city, using cold beer to help cool off on hot days. Here are my favorite places for craft beer in Mérida, including breweries, taprooms, beer bars, restaurants, and bottle shops.
The Best Beer Bars in Mérida, Mexico
Beer Lovers Mid: Tap Room & Shop
Beer Lovers Mid is a taproom and bottle shop with an outstanding beer selection. They offer not only tons of local craft beer, but also European imports, especially Belgian.
The corner spot has 10 taps, about half of which are Mexican and half Belgian. Beer signs and bottle caps decorate the bar.

The service is excellent. Mario, the bartender, even asked me if I wanted to listen to something else on the stereo, since I was the only customer there shortly after opening, but I was loving the mix of rock, alternative, metal, and punk that he was playing.

Beer Lovers Mid has a food menu including burgers, pasta, and more, and also shows NFL games.

Bardo Taproom | Bar | Restaurante
Bardo has a nice space located just across from Parque de Santa Ana. There are large windows looking out towards the square.
The taproom has six taps and a fridge with bottles. They also offer cocktails, spirits, and wine. Happy hour specials are available, as well as a food menu.
When I visited, they were having Oktoberfest, so the taps had lots of German styles – both local and from Germany.

The bar’s windows came in handy when a special local event passed by. It turned out there was a Star Wars parade happening, with dozens of participants in full costume.
The bartenders even paused what they were playing to put on the Cantina Song as the parade passed.

Apóstol Tap Room
Apóstol Tap Room has a great selection of up to 12 taps, plus a fridge filled with beer. Flights are available, along with cocktails and food (including burgers, tacos, and fries).
The bar has views of Parque de Santa Lucía across the street.
It was the first place I encountered a Mérida quirk that took a bit of getting used to.

Many of the beer bars in the city only list styles on their draft lists. I know many people don’t care who brewed something and just want a particular style, but personally, I like to know not only the brewer but also which specific beer it is. You can ask, of course, and the bartenders are happy to provide more information and recommendations.

Hop 3 The Beer Experience
Hop 3 The Beer Experience is located in the Paseo 60 food hall. You can either drink beer at their counter or buy it to drink in the central seating area if you’re eating elsewhere.
Cans and bottles are also available to go, which is great for anyone staying at nearby hotels.

The bar features 11 taps of Mexican craft beer. The sign listed only the styles, but the bartender was happy to provide more information about each one when I asked.
Hop 3’s food menu includes snacks, wings, burgers, and other grilled items.

The Best Breweries in Mérida, Mexico
Cuerno de Toro Taproom
Cuerno De Toro has been brewing in the Mérida area since 2015. The brewery itself is just outside the city in Conkal. Their 8-tap taproom in the city center features the most creative beers in town.

The brewery specializes in dark, strong beers that incorporate many local Mexican flavors, such as maracuyá, Mexican chocolate, and habanero.

I enjoyed a four-beer flight. My choices included Torino (a tiramisu porter), Britania (a DDH NEIPA), Carmela (a peanut butter cup brown ale), and Tormento (an imperial red ale)
The taproom also offers cocktails and a food menu.

Mercado Gastronómico Gran Parque La Plancha
La Plancha is the biggest park in central Mérida. It’s a popular community gathering space with lots of events, walking and biking paths, museums, and a transportation hub. We especially loved visiting for the pet parade during the Día de Muertos and Hanal Pixán festivities.
The park is also home to a food hall called Mercado Gastronómico Gran Parque la Plancha. In addition to a variety of food stalls, the market is also home to three taproom kiosks from local craft breweries.
I’d ventured there thinking there was just one, so it was a pleasant surprise to find so many. It’s a cool idea for small breweries to group together like that, creating a mini brewery crawl all within a single building.
Esmeralda Taproom (La Plancha) has four taps of its own beer. They also operate a beer-and-cocktail bar called El Cambay, a short walk away from La Plancha.

I also had a honey blonde beer that they had brewed in collaboration with Miel Nativa Kaban, who work with local Mayan bees.
Casa Patito has a further 10 taps.

Cervecería Mastache “Parque de la Plancha” is the third taproom in the marketplace. Currently, all of their beers are served in bottles. They also have a taproom in the northern part of the city.

Verdina: Cerveza artesanal
I didn’t expect to find anything from Canada in Mérida, Mexico, but Verdina is bringing a bit of the north to their friends to the south. The new brewery opened in the summer of 2025.
Vincent, the owner of the brewery and taproom, is from Quebec. The beer selection includes around 8 rotating taps. I enjoyed the American Amber and then the Schwarzbier.

You can’t have a Canadian bar without poutine, of course. We got the pulled pork poutine.
Making the Canadian atmosphere even more prominent was that we visited during a World Series game where the beloved Toronto Blue Jays were playing.
I also enjoyed chatting with one of the bartenders, who was a fellow Arizona Diamondbacks fan wearing a Randy Johnson and Luis Gonzalez t-shirt.
If you’re a Canadian looking for a little taste of home, or if you’re just someone staying at one of the big hotels nearby, head to Verdina. It’s a very welcoming place.

El Cambay Bar
El Cambay Bar is operated by Esmeralda Brewing Company, but it’s also a cocktail bar. It has a pleasant, loungey atmosphere with cool music and a flamingo theme.
The beer selection includes about four bottles of their own beer and five taps. When I visited, four of the taps were guest beers (with only the style listed – by this point, I was used to this local quirk).

The list of house cocktails includes several Carajillos. I had Yucatán Pale Ale made with local oranges, while my girlfriend enjoyed the Fruto Del Puerto, a nice and fruity tropical cocktail.

In addition to these breweries, there are a few Mérida breweries that don’t currently have taprooms, including Thodes, Casa Pinillos, and Ceiba. You can find their beers at many of the beer bars around town.
Other Mérida breweries and beer bars, such as Bacab Cervecería, are no longer in operation.
