For those who are looking for a winter adventure that doesn’t involve flying down a mountain at Brian Head, The Glacier, Cedar City’s community ice skating rink, is a non-profit organization that features ice skating, figure skating, and more.
Stargazers will love Cedar City no matter the season. Cedar Breaks National Monument was named as one of USA Today’s Ten Great Places to Stargaze, and it’s easy to see why. Thanks to its high elevation, location, and program to minimize light pollution, Cedar Breaks has one of the darkest night skies in the United States. The Southern Utah Space Foundation hosts events year-round at various stargazing locations near Cedar City.

Summer means the snow is gone from Cedar City, but new outdoor adventures begin. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the region’s scenic access to hiking, mountain/road biking, camping, fishing and golfing.
If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxing, take advantage of Cedar City’s nice weather to visit local festivals, art galleries, museums, restaurants, and wineries.
In Summer 2016, Cedar City will celebrate opening of a new cultural center, the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts which is home to the Southern Utah Museum of Art. Located on the campus of Southern Utah University, the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts will incorporate visual arts, live theatre, and dynamic arts education. Additionally, it will feature an expansion of the Utah Shakespeare Festival. The award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival is a five-month celebration of the arts, featuring musicals & plays.

History fans will also love Cedar City. Nearby historical sites include Parowan Gap, home of one of the most concentrated collections of petroglyphs in the West, with over 90 panels and 1,500 figures, some of which may be 5,000 years old, and Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, which tells the story of Southern Utah’s settlers.

In addition to several quality restaurants, Cedar City is also home to the Iron Gate Winery. Enjoy a tasting of their award-winning wines while taking in the view of the Wasatch Mountains.

Cedar City has lots of really cool and fun hikes that aren’t as well known. Like the hike up red hills canyon just above the Canyon View Park. Right before Rusty’s Steakhouse. There’s a nice hike up the canyon there and the rocks are almost pink colored.
Crystal Springs is a beautiful hike and it’s up Cedar Canyon off Hwy 14.
A real hidden gem is the Twisted Forest up by Brian Head. Many do not know of it, even some who have lived in CC awhile. It’s on the north side of Cedar Breaks National Park and the road starts over in Brian Head and it goes for about 5 miles until Twisted Forest. It’s an amazing sight to behold with trees that are up to 5,000 years old. Plus, head up the mountain a bit farther to overlook the entire Cedar Breaks National Park from a perspective many don’t see!
