Lounge options in Pittsburgh have been lacking in the past, but that has all changed with the new The Club at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Back in September, I reviewed the temporary location that The Club had opened while the new permanent lounge was under construction. While that lounge wasn’t perfect, I was intrigued to see what the full lounge could be. Now that I have been to the permanent location of The Club Pittsburgh, I can confirm that it is a fantastic new addition to the airport.
The Club Pittsburgh is located in Concourse C of PIT, but given the layout of the airport, and the lounge’s location near the start of the concourse, it can be easily accessed by passengers on all airlines.
The permanent lounge has about twice the space of the temporary location. While still not huge, Pittsburgh isn’t a massive airport, so it’s not a problem as of yet. On my first two late afternoon visits, there was plenty of seating. On my third, it was more crowded, but there was still seating available. This may change as travelers based in Pittsburgh realize the value they can be getting by obtaining a Priority Pass, which is how I accessed the lounge. In my case, it was due to having a Citi Prestige credit card.
Near the entrance, there is a “productivity zone” with work areas. They are not particularly private, but they are decent tables with comfortable chairs.
The Club Pittsburgh has plenty of individual seating areas, as well as a many tables for dining. This is important, as the food is where the lounge really excels.
Airport lounges typically have the same range of food, no matter where you are or who is operating the lounge. The Club Pittsburgh is one of the best exceptions to this rule. While it does have typical options such as salads and soups, The Club also features local dishes.
These local dishes include pierogies, kielbasa, meatballs, and pretzels with cheese. These are certainly hefty items, so you can easily put together a decent meal that will help you fall asleep on your flight.
While the food in The Club Pittsburgh is hefty (just like throughout the city itself), there are still plenty of healthy items available.
For dessert, there are mini cheesecakes. The popcorn bar also made it over to the permanent lounge. The selection of snacks is solid.
As was the case before, there are no self-service alcoholic drinks available. This is due to Pennsylvania state law. The new permanent lounge does have an expanded drinks list, including craft beer from local Penn Brewery. There’s also a coffee machine along with flavors to add.
The Club Pittsburgh is a great addition to the airport. There aren’t a ton of good food and drink options available that aren’t fast food, so more options where passengers can relax are helpful. Given Pittsburgh’s positive outlook toward the future, it’s good to see that the airport, which had been in decline, is reversing that trend with The Club.
