Belmont, California, is a quiet city near San Francisco. Being a Silicon Valley suburb, there’s not much to do of note, but that’s not to say that the town isn’t without its charms. There are nice open spaces for leisure activities, plus some good places to eat and drink. It’s also the home to Notre Dame de Namur University. Here are my favorite things to do in Belmont.
Twin Pines Park
Twin Pines Park is located in the heart of Belmont. The green space is a popular place for dog walking and jogging.
It’s also home to several of Belmont’s municipal buildings, including City Hall, the Belmont Senior & Community Center, Twin Pines Art Center, Twin Pines Lodge, and the Belmont Historical Society.
Waterdog Lake & Open Space
Higher in the hills on the way toward Half Moon Bay & near 280 is Waterdog Lake & Open Space. This recreation area is filled with trails & great views.
Belmont Public Library
The Belmont Public Library is part of the San Mateo County Library system. The library is located at Belameda Park along Alameda de las Pulgas. In addition to books, it also offers community classes, storytime, and more. Visit their website for full schedules and services.

Like everywhere else in the Bay Area, Belmont is home to a small but quality craft beer scene. There are two breweries in Belmont: Alpha Acid Brewing Company & ECR Brewing Company.
Both are located right near each other in an industrial area of the city. There are also a handful of beer bars, including ECR Pub and Waterdog Tavern.
Belmont Farmers Market
Every Sunday throughout the year, the Belmont Caltrain station parking lot hosts the Belmont Farmers Market.
The market, which the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association hosts, features seasonal produce vendors from all over the Bay Area & Central Valley. For more information, including the latest schedules, visit their website.
