Valladolid, Mexico, is a small, walkable city. It’s hot, so it’s important to cool off with ice cream after you’ve spent time exploring. Here are my favorite places for ice cream in Valladolid, Mexico, including local heladerías serving traditional paletas and scoops, as well as newer shops offering creative flavors and gelato.
Many Valladolid food tours include a stop at a local ice cream shop. Find the best Valladolid food tours here!
The Best Ice Cream in Valladolid, Mexico
Wabi Gelato
Wabi Gelato is a small shop offering high-quality gelato and sorbets inspired by the Yucatán and the Mediterranean.

The gelato shop offers 8 homemade flavors, including many local fruit sorbets. You can get cups, cones, or even affogato.
We had the jamaica and the tangerine, which were both rich and smooth. The portions weren’t massive, but they don’t need to be when the product is this good.

Another sign of quality: Just like in the best shops in Italy, the gelato and sorbet were kept in closed metal containers, not piled on display for show.

With a nice design, including a tiled floor and jazz music, Wabi Gelato is a relaxing place to cool off.

La Moreliana Special
Parque Principal Francisco Cantón Rosado is the center of life in Valladolid. The area around the square is home to several museums and Iglesia de San Servacio, an impressive church with video mapping shows at night.
La Moreliana Special is an ice cream shop on the corner of the park. They also have ice cream shops in Mérida, as well as Mexico City, Puebla, and Baja California Sur.

The shop offers up to 45 ice cream flavors and up to 60 paleta flavors. The paletas are especially popular. Both milk- and water-based flavors are available, making the shop vegan-friendly. They also offer aguas frescas.
We visited on our Valladolid food tour and enjoyed two traditional local flavors, mango and coconut.

The air conditioning inside the shop is excellent, so stay a while and savor your paleta without worrying that it will melt immediately.

Heladería Mexicana Dulce Narcisa
Heladería Mexicana Dulce Narcisa is another quality ice cream shop in Valladolid.

They offer great, intense, creamy flavors, including house specialties like Orange mezcal, queso, and pistachio.
Some flavors, like mango and pistachio, use minced ingredients, which takes a little away from their smoothness but clearly show the quality of the ingredients used.
You can order individual scoops in cups or cones, but for the most comprehensive experience, you can also get a tasting flight with six flavors.

This is one to share with a friend or two, of course.
