I’m a bit late posting it this month, but here are some of my favorite travel photos I took and posted on Instagram in December. Some of the photos are from the first half of my trip around the world, which I will be writing much more about in the coming months.

It’s dungeness crab season in San Francisco, which means deliciousness like this dungeness crab roll with garlic fries from Gott’s Roadside at the Ferry Building.

The holiday season means a few nice lunches at work. These egg nog profiteroles are from Prospect in San Francisco.

I kicked off my trip in style with champagne in the British Airways first class lounge at SFO.

My first stop was in London for the evening. I took the Underground into the city for a bit. Part of the ride was on one of these new trains. I love great public transportation, and this is a perfect example of how to maximize passenger space. Compare this to San Francisco, where far too much space is devoted to seating, especially on BART, resulting in overcrowding in the limited standing areas.

I spent a day in Madrid. I visited the Museo Reina Sofia, home of Pablo Picasso’s Guernica, one of my favorite paintings.

After Madrid, I spent a week in Mallorca, a sun-soaked island off the coast of Spain. This was the sunset over the harbor on my first day there. Not a bad way to spend a December day.

And this was the sunrise I woke up to from my AirBnB in Palma de Mallorca.

I took this photo while I was hiking one afternoon in Mallorca.

Here’s a view of Palma de Mallorca from Castell de Bellver, which is on a hill at the edge of the city.

Palma Cathedral is a gorgeous building. The stained glass was the most colorful I have ever seen.

I had my last meal in Spain at Simply Fosh, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Palma. They run an excellent lunch special there, which allows you to eat at a more-than-reasonable price.
