Following my day in Madrid, I headed back to the airport so I could fly to Palma de Mallorca. I was flying Iberia business class, which gave me access to the Iberia Dali VIP Lounge.
As airport lounges go, this one wasn’t bad. It was fairly late at night, so it mirrored the emptiness of the BA lounge I had been in at London Heathrow earlier in the day. With an open layout and exposure to the high ceiling of the terminal, the Iberia Lounge at MAD feels like a huge space.
I missed seeing any hot food, but there was a good range of cold foods that were easy to take away. Between salads, meats, cheeses, fruit, ice cream & more, there was a nice selection of items to eat. It did feel a bit like I was in a deli or convenience store, but I imagine this layout would be great for families, as there were plenty of kid-friendly snacks around.
I wasn’t too hungry, but I was on vacation, so I had a couple of small Haagen-Dazs cups while I waited for my flight.
I also stared at the ceiling. Not out of boredom, but because the Madrid-Barajas Airport Terminal 4 is one of the most beautiful airport terminals I have seen.
I didn’t explore the full lounge, but there is also a relaxation area, plus showers, for those in-transit on long-haul journeys.
Finally, it came time to board, and I got on my flight to Palma de Mallorca. That flight doesn’t warrant a full post, but I will say that I was exhausted by this point. There was an inflight meal, which I picked at. I popped a piece of cheese into my mouth only to find that in fact it was not cheese, but very hard butter instead. I may not be the healthiest eater when I’m traveling, but even I have my limits.
