Cádiz, Spain, has hot weather for much of the year, making it the perfect place for ice cream. Not that I need any excuses to eat ice cream at any time of the year. Despite being a fairly small area, the city has lots of great ice cream shops (known as heladerías). Here are my favorite spots for the best ice cream in Cádiz.
One way to get a nice introduction to Cádiz is to take a tour. Check out these excellent tour options & book now!
The Best Ice Cream In Cádiz
Heladeria El Limonero
Thanks to its high quality and vast array of creative flavors, Heladeria El Limonero is my favorite Cádiz ice cream shop.

The heladeria boasts 30 different flavors, with new creations frequently being added to the rotation. Vegan flavors such as sorbet are also available.
I enjoyed a generously piled high cup of white chocolate with cardamom and pistachio, basil with chocolate, and cream cheese with figs and Pedro Ximenez sherry.

The ice cream was stunningly creamy, even more so than gelato. Not only were the flavors inventive, but each scoop was absolutely packed with each ingredient. They don’t skimp at all.
It’s also located on the beautiful Jardines de la Plaza de la Candelaria, so you can take your ice cream to go and enjoy the surroundings.

Bajo 0 Helados Artesanos
Bajo 0 Helados Artesanos is another ice cream shop in Cádiz that has interesting flavors. It’s right on Plaza San Francisco.

I enjoyed their banana with dulce de leche, whisky bombon, and pionono (an Andalusian cream pastry).

They were all creamy and rich.

Heladería Verde Pistacchio
Heladería Verde Pistacchio draws inspiration from both Italy and Spain, utilizing local ingredients alongside Italian ones for its ice cream and milkshakes.
Design is also a focus of the shop, with a pistachio-colored VW van sitting at the front.

As you might expect, there are several different pistachio flavors.

While the Persian flavor sounded interesting, I kept it simple with salted pistachio.

It had an awesome flavor, with just the right texture, thanks to real pistachios, which gave the creaminess a tiny bit of crunch.

Gelateria Cioccolato
Gelateria Cioccolato is conveniently located at the end of Cádiz’s major plaza, Plaza de San Juan de Dios.
As you might expect, the shop offers a wide variety of chocolate flavors. The most intense is called “Muerte por chocolate” (Death by chocolate).

They also have plenty of gelato flavors that include pastries, such as donets tayados and croissants with Nutella. These pastry flavors have a ton of actual pastry in them. There are even sugar-free flavors available.
Other favorite flavors of mine include vanilla with tocino de cielo and tarta de San Marcos, which is another beloved Spanish cake.

If these flavors weren’t already enough of a religious experience, a religious procession passed by while I enjoyed my scoops.

Narigoni Gelato
Narigoni Gelato is a small gelato shop right across from the Cádiz Cathedral.
Posters of celebrities photoshopped to be holding gelato welcome you into the shop, which, in addition to ice cream, also sells granita and coffee.

Everything is homemade. You can even see the ice cream being made in the shop.

I got the lemon cheesecake, mojito, and banana, all of which were very creamy.
