Whitstable is a lovely seaside town located in Kent, about an hour away from London by train. It makes for a nice day trip out of the city, especially if you’re a lover of seafood. There are also lots of cute shops & galleries, as well as seaside walks & water activities. Considering it’s a pretty small town, it’s impressive that it has a couple of excellent craft beer bars. Here are the best places for craft beer in Whitstable, including craft beer bars & taprooms.
The Best Craft Beer Bars in Whitstable
The Twelve Taps

As you may have guessed from the name, The Twelve Taps has 12 taps of craft beer. One of the taps is dedicated to gluten-free beer. There’s also a list of a couple of dozen cans and bottles.

For those who aren’t craft beer inclined, they also have a gin that they make and bottle themselves. You can purchase bottles to go or enjoy a seasonal cocktail at the bar.

The Twelve Taps is an excellent local Whitstable bar that’s popular in the evenings. On sunny days, check out the back garden. Owners Becca and Libby have created a nice inclusive spot that’s friendly to regulars & newcomers alike (along with their dogs!).

The Sea Farmer’s Dive Taproom
Who doesn’t like a nice dive bar? The Sea Farmer’s Dive Taproom is an outstanding spot right along the sea, serving as either a nice spot to get a beer to take away on a sunny day or as a refuge when the weather is not so great.

Unpretentious, cozy, & welcoming, the bar has a nice indoor space with a fireplace that’s a perfect spot to unwind on chilly winter days. The walls are covered in dive & seafaring-related items.

As far as the beer goes, The Sea Farmer’s Dive Taproom has 14 taps including local favorites from nearby breweries such as Whitstable (which is brewed in nearby Maidstone and is also the official beer of the Whitstable Oyster Company, located right next door to the bar & another good spot for seafood & beer).

On weekends, the taproom serves local Whitstable oysters. Combine both, and opt for an oyster stout brewed with local oysters.

The Forge
While there are plenty of places where you can get seafood in Whitstable, there’s one great little spot along the waterfront where you can get local oysters daily along with cans of local craft beer. The Forge is the perfect stopping point for a break on a sunny day.
