Cádiz, Spain, might be better known for local wine and sherry, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some great cocktail bars. While there are a fair number of generic bars like any city, there are two cocktail bars in Cádiz that are particular standouts.

One way to get a nice introduction to Cádiz is to take a tour. Check out these excellent tour options & book now!

The Best Cocktails in Cádiz

Coctelería Merykele

Deep in the alleways of El Pópulo in Cádiz, right across from the Roman theater, you’ll find my favorite cocktail bar in the city.

Coctelería Merykele is a fun, modern take on a tiki bar. It’s not dark or overly kitschy like some older tiki bars (not that I mind those things, of course!)

Instead, it’s bright, with velvet chairs, floral wallpaper, and teal walls. I love the teal and brick red color combo. In fact, it was briefly the color palette of my site.

The cocktail menu includes classic cocktails, signature cocktails, and, of course, tiki cocktails. Mocktails are also available.

For my first drink, Mikele, the owner of the bar, told me about a new house cocktail that wasn’t yet on the menu. He’s from Italy and loves to do infusions.

This first drink had lots of rum, plus house-made cinnamon syrup and smoked pineapple. It was lovely.

Later, Mikele offered me some passion fruit syrup to try.

Regulars all seemed to love the place, and I see why. The music included energetic indie dance pop, and everyone was having a great time.

When I closed the night with a Zombie, Mikele asked, “Are you ready to fly, my friend?” I replied, “Always!”

Coctelería Merykele is a very cool tiki spot and a must-visit bar in Cádiz if you love great cocktails.

Aleph Cocktail Club

Aleph Cocktail Club is another excellent cocktail bar in Cádiz. Perched atop Hotel Olom, it’s the best place to go for a drink during the early evening hours thanks to its phenomenal views of Cádiz Cathedral.

The rooftop bar has shade covering, but also heaters, so it’s good to go to whatever the weather. From the end of the bar, you can see the sea peeking through the historic buildings.

This open rooftop on the 4th floor of the building allows for some sea breezes to match the chill vibes.

The bar’s mission is to incorporate local flavors and spirits. For example, the bar uses DYC, a Spanish whisky, and of course, the local specialty sherry in its signature cocktails. They also offer mocktails.

I enjoyed the Sea Sour, which was refreshingly delightful on a warm afternoon.

Some notable Cádiz cocktail bars, such as La Colonial Alameda Cóctel Bar, which featured a wonderful outdoor patio in a park, are no longer operating.
