albums of the year 2015 700x466

This is a travel site (albeit one that happens to have its name taken from a song by Pulp), but if you’re like me, you listen to a lot of music while you’re traveling. Each year I keep a list of my favorite albums, and I thought I’d share my list from 2015 here. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, check it out! I also included some of my favorite TV shows for anyone who is looking for something to watch while traveling this winter. Enjoy & leave any more of your favorites in the comments.

10. Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment – Surf
9. Sleater-Kinney – No Cities To Love
8. Sufjan Stevens – Carrie & Lowell
7. CHVRCHES – Every Open Eye

I’ve loved CHVRCHES ever since I first heard them a few years ago, and I wasn’t disappointed at all by their 2nd album, Every Open Eye. It’s not a drastic departure from their debut, but in this case that’s exactly what I wanted.
6. Youth Lagoon – Savage Hills Ballroom

Savage Hills Ballroom is the most accessible & polished Youth Lagoon album so far, but it loses none of the intricacies that I’ve loved in his previous work.
5. Built To Spill – Untethered Moon

After so many years and so many albums, it’s amazing that Built To Spill still has it. Doug Martsch is a guitar god.
4. Desaparecidos – Payola

An angry political album that was one of my favorites this year. Sometimes it’s a little shallow & too on-the-nose, but it’s loud and rocks hard enough to forgive that.
3. Grimes – Art Angels

From start to finish, Art Angels is an impressive return from Grimes. California is one of my favorite songs of 2015.
2. Beach Slang – The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us

Another fun, rocking album. A perfect album for a road trip.
1. Julien Baker – Sprained Ankle

This was a last minute addition to the list, and I’m so glad I listened to it. Sprained Angle is best listened to when you have some quiet, perhaps in your bedroom or via headphones on airplane. Powerful & raw, it’s amazing that she’s created this masterpiece at such a young age.
