Travel Deals & Resources
Are you in the middle of planning a trip? I usually am, too. Below, you will find links to useful sites for travel booking, no matter where you are in the process. I have recommendations for hotel booking, flight booking, travel insurance, tours and activities, transportation, and more.
There is no cost to you for using these affiliate links, but I will earn a commission thanks to you using them. All of my articles are based on my own personal travel. These require in-depth research and visits to all the places I write about, which takes both time and money. So, if you’ve found any of the information on my site helpful, please support me by using these links for your travel bookings! Thank you!
Accommodation
Booking.com
Booking.com is one of the best sites for booking hotels, as you can find almost any hotel worldwide on its platform. Not only that, but it also has a large selection of apartments and homes listed. Digital nomads will especially appreciate the separate ratings for wifi at each property.
Hotels.com
Similarly, Hotels.com also has a huge number of hotels (millions!) to choose from. I often check prices on both Hotels.com and Booking.com. You can also earn rewards for booking through the site, plus they offer member discounts for some properties.
Agoda
Agoda is a hotel booking website that’s especially popular in Asia. It also operates in other regions. As always, check the various hotel sites for the best deals, especially if you’ve earned discount status on some sites.
Vrbo
Traveling with family or a larger group? Are you looking for more space for a getaway? Traveling longer term and want a kitchen or other amenities? VRBO is one of the best places to book home and apartment vacation rentals.
Hostelworld
Are you a budget traveler? Hostelworld is the most comprehensive site for booking hostel stays. However, unless you’re set on staying at hostels, also check hotel sites for pricing, given how hostels are getting increasingly expensive.
TripAdvisor
While I do my travel research on various sites, TripAdvisor consistently has lots of detailed reviews and good price comparisons. I never take single reviews too seriously, but I look at a lot of them to identify good or bad patterns.
Trip.com
Trip.com offers over 1.4 million hotels available for booking. It also has flight deals. Beyond that, it also has tours, cruises, rental cars, package deals and more, along with a rewards program for frequent bookers.
Tours and Activities
Viator
Viator has the largest number of listings of tours and activities in the world. If you’re looking for something to do while traveling (or even at home), start your search there. Viator is also great for finding tours to get you into attractions that might otherwise be sold out.
Get Your Guide
I also like looking for tours and activities on Get Your Guide. Their selection isn’t always as large, but some tour and activity operators are only listed there. They are also a great place to find interesting tour ideas when you don’t know what to do somewhere.
Tiqets
It’s becoming more and more necessary to book entry to popular destinations ahead of time. Many of the top tourist attractions in the world are listed on Tiquets. Pre-book your tickets and avoid the lines and risk of places selling out when you plan on visiting.
Flights
Kayak
I usually start my flight searches with Kayak or Google Flights because their interfaces are easy to use and include nearly every airline available, including budget airlines.
Google Flights
I also do flight searches on Google Flights before booking my flights directly with the airline where possible (unless there’s a great deal I can’t pass up on a third-party site).
Transportation
Rentalcars.com
Need to rent a car? Use Rentalcars.com to search all of the major car rental companies.
Trainline
Trainline offers bus and train tickets in over 45 different countries and over 210 different transportation companies.
Rail Europe
Rail Europe offers a variety of train tickets and rail passes from over 50 different rail companies across Europe.
Other Travel Services
Priority Pass
Many airport lounges around the world are accessible through Priority Pass. While some credit cards include Priority Pass, buying a standalone Priority Pass subscription is also possible. If you travel a lot, I recommend having it!
Airalo
While some phone plans offer decent international coverage or day rates, not all do. Airalo offers eSIMs that can help you save money and stay connected when traveling. Their digital data packs work in over 200+ countries and regions.
Airhelp
Did you know that European laws require airlines to pay you compensation for flight delays and cancellations in certain conditions? Some airlines make it easy to get paid, while others fight. Airhelp can help get you the money you are owed!
