A Canadian woman attempting to fly out of New York’s JFK airport to Barbados was arrested for an array of offenses after the TSA and Port Authority police quite easily noticed that something wasn’t quite right with her bags.
Their attention had been drawn to her luggage due to its weight, and according to the TSA, via Gothamist, when they opened it up they found the bags were “jam-packed with cans and boxes for baby wipes, coffee, floor dusting sheets, lemonade mix, iced tea mix, a box of cat litter and a box of laundry tablets. But none of those boxes or cans contained the products on the labels.”
What was inside? “Two disassembled .40 caliber handguns, 350 rounds of ammunition, four magazines for the guns and 58 bricks of marijuana totaling 33 pounds, all artfully concealed in the boxes, tubs and cans of everyday household products.”
Oh, is that all?
I’m sure the TSA & Port Authority appreciated just how easy this bust was. People try to smuggle contraband through airports all the time, but generally they don’t make it so obvious. Maybe next time she’ll put a bit more effort into her concealing, rather than looking like she just made a Target run prior to heading to the airport.
