Hilton has announced their Spring 2015 promo, Double Your HHonors. HHonors members have 2 options to choose from in order to earn a bonus: Earn Double Points or Double Miles when you stay at participating Hilton portfolio hotels from March 1 through May 31, 2015.

The details:

Earn Double Points: Earn double Hilton HHonors points (a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during an eligible stay)

Earn Double Miles: Earn double airline miles with any of their 60+ airline partners (a bonus equal to the number of base miles earned during an eligible stay)

Go here to make your Double Your HHonors selection, and make sure you do it before your first stay during this time period. Even if you don’t have a stay planned at the moment, it never hurts to sign up just in case your travel plans change at the last minute.

My thoughts:

While not the most lucrative promo ever, it’s not bad if you have (or are considering) upcoming Hilton hotel stays.

Unfortunately, there is a very long list of non-participating hotels, especially in the United States. Temper your excitement until you check the list, which can be found here. I’m glad to see that the hotel I will be staying in for an upcoming business trip is not on the list, so I will earn the bonus points.

Personally, I think the double HHonors point option is the much better deal here. You earn 10 HHonors Base Points for every eligible US dollar spent on your room, which means that choosing the double points will give you an additional 10 points per dollar. Combine this with any additional points you may earn for having a Hilton HHonors credit card or elite status, and the points can rack up pretty quickly. The only reason why I would recommend the double airline miles would be if you are absolutely desperate for quick miles. Even then, an extra 1 mile per $1 spent at a Hilton probably won’t get you very far.

All-in-all, extra hotel points are fine by me, and signing up for the Double Your HHonors promo is a no-brainer for anyone with upcoming Hilton travel.
