Given that San Francisco-based Virgin America is positioning itself as a trendier airline focusing on younger travelers, it was only a matter of time that they would make their way to Portland, Oregon.
I’m particularly excited about these new flights, since airfares from SFO to PDX are typically quite expensive, especially when compared to flying to Seattle. Hopefully the new routes from Virgin will lead to some nice fare wars down the line as service expands.
Virgin America will be starting the new San Francisco to Portland (1x daily) and Los Angeles to Portland (2x daily) routes on June 5th, just in time to sit outside and drink some nice local microbrews at The Green Dragon. To promote the new service, introductory fares are just $99 each way, including taxes and fees.
