One of the flight attendants aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Tampa to Los Angeles on Saturday was raising money for Relay For Life in memory of her daughter, who had passed away from cancer. Famed saxophonist Kenny G happened to be on the same flight and heard her story. As a motivation to get passengers to donate, he offered to play some music if the flight banded together to meet her fundraising goal.
Within minutes, everyone had donated over $2,000. As a thank you, Kenny G played his saxophone while walking down the aisle of the plane (after brushing his teeth, of course – you don’t become a world-famous saxophonist without having good oral hygiene, Bleeding Gums Murphy excluded).
Watch videos of Kenny G’s Delta performance below:
The dude who is sitting there with his headphones in, waiting for this all to be over, is pretty funny. Kenny G might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s still cool to be treated to inflight entertainment like this.
Cynics might say that this was publicity stunt, but Kenny G himself was sheepish about the whole thing in the video from TMZ. At end of the day, what matters is that a lot of money was raised for a good cause. If you’d like to support Relay For Life yourself, then you can visit their website here.
