Targeted: 3x miles on the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Visa

Don’t ignore all those credit card mailings you receive! The one I received today was actually worth reading.

It had the Citi & AAdvantage logos on it, and inside the window of the envelope, the offer reads “Earn 3x American Airlines AAdvantage Miles on eligible online purchases through 6/30/15”. It’s easy to toss aside mail about credit cards, but thankfully the card issuers are getting better about making it clear that there is an offer inside.

If you receive one of these mailings from Citi, inside you’ll find details on how to register for the promotion. It takes 2 seconds online, and when you’re done you’ll see this confirmation:

Now I will receive 3x miles per $1 of eligible online purchases made on the card through June 30th, 2015. The fine print specifically states that it may overlap with other bonuses, so keep in mind that stacking with any retention bonuses you may have. You can earn up to 2,500 bonus miles through this promotion (2 bonus miles earned on $1,250 in spend).

I don’t know how many people will be getting this mailing, but if you have the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Visa, check your mailbox. You might also receive the same offer by e-mail. I just checked mine, and indeed I had missed 2 e-mails about this bonus miles promo in the last couple of weeks. If you don’t receive it this time, don’t fret: these sorts of promotions can come out on a rolling basis periodically.
