Planes get hit by lightning from time to time, but it’s not often that the lightning strike is caught on video. That’s just what Mitchell & Amie Stewart managed to do on a recent Etihad Airways flight between Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates & Paris, France.
They posted the cool video above to YouTube, along with this description: “On approach into Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport on the 3rd of February 2016 our Etihad Airways Flight Number 37 from Abu Dhabi International airport our Boeing 777 was struck by lightening [sic] on the wingtip. The plane went on to make a safe landing in Paris shortly after.”
While planes are of course built to withstand lightning strikes, it’s still interesting to see such an event documented.
