Air New Zealand has released its latest entertaining inflight safety video. Their recent Hobbit-themed safety videos featured Middle Earth, but this time the airline has themed the video around surfing. The video features surfing legends Gabriel Medina, Mick Fanning, Laird Hamilton and Alana Blanchard as well as music by Peter, Bjorn & John.

Overall, the new Air New Zealand inflight safety video is not 100% relevant to flying, but it’s the best demonstration of floatation devices I’ve ever seen, and it certainly keeps viewers’ attention. Not to mention, it’s a pretty good ad for some of the destinations they fly to.
Air New Zealand is also holding a contest in celebration of the new safety video. I normally write a travel contest roundup each week, but I wanted to share this sooner since it’s a pretty cool prize. You can win a trip to go surfing in both New Zealand and Australia! There are 2 prizes, one for the United States and one for Canada (the details of the U.S. prize are below).
Roundtrip economy class air transportation for two (2) from Los Angeles/San Francisco/Honolulu/Houston to Auckland, New Zealand and economy class air transportation for two (2) from Auckland, NZ to the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia on Air New Zealand.
Four (4) night’s hotel accommodation in New Zealand and three (3) nights hotel accommodation in Queensland, Australia
