On my first departure from Cancun, I visited the Mera Business Lounge in Terminal 3. My 2nd departure from Cancun was out of Terminal 2, so I visited the airport’s lounge in that terminal.
The two lounges are both Lounge Club/Priority Club lounges, and most of the services are the same. The Terminal 3 lounge is a bit hidden, but there are signs clearly marking the path.
You’ll expect to see similar food, including small sandwiches, salads, snacks, and cookies.
The bar & drinks are also similar.
Where the Terminal 3 business lounge differs from Terminal 2 is in the seating. There weren’t a lot of places to sit, and the issue was compounded by the type of seating they did have.
The lounge is filled with couches, which seems nice and comfortable, until you realize this means it’s easy for just a few rude people to monopolize the entire space. Solo travelers can take up an entire couch on their own, and who is going to be the weird one and sit down next to them? Even couples & families caused problems, as instead of sharing one couch, some people would take two of them. The result was that while the lounge was a bit more than half full, there were very few spare spots to sit, aside from the dining tables.
Another issue was the lack of outlets to charge devices. When you don’t have a lot of places to sit in the first place, electronics are inevitably neglected as well.
There were some recliners in a secluded area, some of which were broken. There was also a business center, if sitting in an office chair was more appealing than sitting at a table.
I ended up sitting at a dining table for the whole time I was in the lounge. I had some caesar salad and macaroni salad, both of which were served out of mugs. Nothing like a nice mug of macaroni salad, mmmmmm.
Overall, I was unimpressed by the Terminal 3 Business Lounge in Cancun. I used a free pass to get in, but I wouldn’t consider spending the one-time fee for access. If you have Lounge Club or Priority Pass access then go ahead and use it, but don’t expect much. Consider yourself lucky if you get a comfortable place to sit.
